Any pet with signs of ticks, fleas or worms will not be permitted in the facility.

Sterilisation: The Animal Keeping Bylaw of 2021 - City of Cape Town requires all pets over the age of 6 months to be sterilised. Unsterilised pets may only be kept with a permit from CoCT.

Please read the bylaws here

Supervision and Control:

Dogs are naturally curious and territorial, which may lead to conflict if left unsupervised.  While we allow unleashed play and interaction for the Play Pen activity only, you are responsible for the control and behaviour of your pets at all times.

You may look for any signs of aggression, such as growling, bared teeth, stiff body posture, snapping or biting, etc.  Observe their body language closely and take immediate action if the situation deteriorates.  The pets must be discouraged from rough interactions as far as possible.

Waste Disposal

Please arrive at least ten minutes before your booking and enter the "Meet and Skeet" yard with your pet/s on-leash. This area is designed to encourage urination and defecation so that the central facility can remain hygienic. Clients must place dog faeces in designated disposal bins in the yard. The area is regularly cleaned by TWW staff. Any pet with diarrhoea will not be allowed to enter the facility.  If pets urinate and defecate in the primary facility, please remove faeces and alert a member of TWW staff who will decontaminate the area..

Toys & Treats

Dog toys or treats are only permitted during single private Play Pen sessions. Do not bring your own dog toys for the Happy Birthday activities as it may trigger aggression and food competition in some pets.  Please refer to dog trainer for class rules.

Preventing Excessive Barking or Noise

Dogs may bark excessively for multiple reasons, including protective instincts, attention-seeking tactics, anxiety, frustration, underlying medical issues, etc.  This may disrupt the environment and be a source of discomfort for other people and animals.  Owners should make efforts to manage and control their dog’s vocal level.

Age limits for dogs and children

Puppies that have not completed their initial core vaccinations will not be permitted in the TWW facility.  Please click here for South African Veterinary Association Vaccination Guidelines. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Prohibited items or activities

No weapons of any sort may be brought onto the premises (this includes sticks/whips for pets). The use of anti-barking devices that shock or cause any other pain to pets is not allowed.   No drugs or alcohol are permitted on the premises. For safety, no glass or sharp objects are permitted in the TWW facility.

Limitations on the number of dogs per person

Play Pen - A maximum of 5 dogs is permitted at one session in the arena. All participating clients must agree that their own pets are properly socialised and capable of peaceful interaction with the rest of the group involved.

Good Dog - The obedience trainer will have rules regarding this.

Happy Birthday - Breed and age circumstances will be considered for each event with regard to numbers.

Rules and Regulations: Final Words

A life lived with others is a life well-lived. Dogs need social exposure as much as humans for a sense of self-esteem.  They need to engage with creatures that are like them and learn to interact with them healthily and meaningfully.  As responsible pet parents, we must provide opportunities targeting their physical, emotional, and social needs.  The secret to joy is living in the present and watching your pet while you’re at it. Enjoy!

Waiver of Liability

Warning of Risk

Participation in the Talliwags Wellness World (hereafter referred to as TWW) Play Pen/Good Dog/Happy Birthday/Wellness Clinics activities is done at the owner’s (and pet/s) own risk.

  • Natural reactions by the dog such as jumping, pulling, resisting, and biting

  • Environmental and traffic conditions

  • Acts of God

  • Slips and falls

  • Premises defects

  • Equipment failure

In consideration for permission to use the TWW facilities, you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages, or loss which you or your dog might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with use of the facilities. Acceptance of this release and adherence to the above TWW’s Rules & Regulations  are conditions of membership and entry. Memberships are non‐transferable and may be revoked for non‐compliance as may be required by TWW.

I understand and agree with the following:

  1. Use of the dog park is self-directed and used with the understanding of “use at my own risk”.

  5. Additional risks include, but are not limited to, dog fights, dog bites, theft, disappearance or unlawful capture, escape over and under fences, being knocked down, chased or tripped by a dog, and vegetation or standing water that may be unhealthy if consumed.

  6. I assume all risks associated with using the dog park, including its fixtures and equipment, in an unsupervised manner, including the risk of injury to me, any individual (including supervised children) accompanying me and my dog/s.

I further understand and agree that TWW is not managed by The City of Cape Town. Members are expected to adhere to TWW RULES AND REGULATIONS and be responsible for their own behaviour and that of their registered dog/s.
